The Good and the Bad...

Tonight's post is going to have a serious side. I'll start with the bad....

The father of one of my patient's passed away this weekend in a motorcycle accident. My patient is this bubbly little blond with an imagination that is far too big for a 4 year old girl. She has two younger siblings and a fantastic mom who is my age. It is such a tragedy that has left me heart-broken since I found out. It makes you stop and appreciate what moments we get to spend with our loved ones. We never really know when our last moments with them will be...

Now on a happier note...my good friend, Katie Holloway, is engaged!!! Her boyfriend, Jason, proposed on Mother's Day in Kiroli Park:) She now has a beautiful ring on her finger and I am sure she has a huge grin plastered on her face 24/7! Congratulations Katie and Jason!!

And as a sidenote...we ate pizza for dinner tonight. And we didn't make it ourselves. Yep. That's right. We picked it up from a local piazza. And we enjoyed every single bite of it!

Have a good night:)

Fake-Out Fancy...

Due to recent criticism of my "complicated dishes"...I will be posting a dish tonight that is not complicated at all....but still very fancy:) And of course, I got it from my favorite...The Pioneer Woman. The recipe is...Grilled Steak with a Onion-Blue Cheese Sauce.

Ingredients:
2 steaks
1 onion
4 tbsp butter
3/4 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup blue cheese
salt and pepper

Is that ingredient list short enough? I think so...

Season the steaks with salt and pepper and pop 'em on the grill. If a grill isn't available or convenient...they can be cooked on the stove. How the steaks are cooked isn't near as important...anything will taste good with this sauce:) Now, for the heavenly sauce...slice the onion into long, thin slices. They will look like rainbows! Melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until onions are good and brown. Lower heat to simmer and add whipping cream. Cook and stir until liquid has thickened. Add the blue cheese and stir until melted. Serve with steak and pass out because it tastes better than you ever imagined!

Now on to more fun...I decided today that I needed to put new "spring flowers" in my door bucket and create a centerpiece for our dining room table. So, after a trip to Marshall's and Jo-Anns...this is the end result!

Um...my door bucket is apparently a LSU fan.

Have a happy Friday!!!!!

Things that make me smile...

This post is going to be a little bit of everything...food, furniture, flowers, and fun art project (that last "f" was hard to come up with).

We will start with food. We had another Pioneer Woman special tonight. These White Chicken Enchiladas are amazing!!! I used corn tortillas and they kinda broke open when I was folding them over...but it didn't matter in the finished product. You must try these!

Recently, I have been accused of making "fancy meals" every night. Well, I just can't go on with these accusations. I would like to let everyone know that we, in fact, do NOT eat these so-called fancy meals every night. I just don't happen to blog about all of our meals. But...perhaps I should. Last night, we ate cobb salads and chicken strips from Lee's. Not so fancy, huh?

Now on to furniture. Patio furniture that is. We picked this up at our local grocery store:) We have come so far in the world of furniture. Who knew that Kroger would start making furniture! I am so excited about this set! Makes you want to come over and eat at our house right? And yes, I would fix you "fancy food."

Flowers. I found this fancy yellow begonia at KMart. It looks beautiful on my front porch! Every girl could use a nice begonia:)

And finally, fun art project! I am super excited about this one. The inspiration for this came from some baby bedding a certain someone has picked out...
I actually made a stencil to create this canvas and I am so glad I did because now I can make even more pieces with this pattern! So if anyone is in the market for a damask-inspired art creation...you know who to call! I'm not quite sure what I'm going to put in the middle of the canvas yet...perhaps a big, pretty M!

I think this post is long enough for tonight. Thank goodness Monday is almost over!!!
