Hot trends in the McCormick house...

There are a lot of new trends at the McCormick house these days. We will start with food. Snacks to be more specific....

Fresh peaches and chocolate milk. Trust me, it's delicious.

Next trend...new curtains!

I made these this weekend for our guest bedroom and I love the way they turned out!

Next trend...beauty products.

This lotion is amazing! Leaves your skin so soft!

And finally...my favorite...books! These have been my latest reads and I highly recommend them.

Oh and if the hot trends haven't given it away yet, we're pregnant:)

We found out on Father's Day:) It was definitely our most memorable Father's Day ever! Our little baby is due on February 28th and I have never been more excited for the worst winter weather month! We can't wait to keep everyone updated on the adventures this pregnancy brings us!

Our adventures so far include lots and lots of naps. All mine of course. I have had the biggest cravings for Starburst jelly beans...wrong time of the year for those. Mood swings....just ask Ryan:) The room is painted and now has curtains. We have decided we won't be finding out the gender so the gender neurtal decorating extravaganza has begun. The names are still an ongoing discussion...but we will reveal them soon:)

I think this post is full of enough excitement for tonight...more later!

Amazing Pasta

Ok, how often do I blog about amazing pasta? I feel like the answer to that is fairly often.... But what's a girl supposed to do when that Pioneer Woman keeps shooting out pasta recipes that knock your socks off? She's supposed to make them, eat them, and write about them.

The most amazing pasta dish for today....Grilled Chicken with Lemon Basil Pasta.

Grilled Chicken
Chicken Breasts
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp dijon mustard
fresh basil
Combine all ingredients in large plastic bag and mix. Allow to marinate for 1-24 hours. Grill!

Lemon Basil Pasta
1 lb pasta (cavatappi is my favorite!)
4 tbsp butter
3 lemons, juiced (I substituted with pre-squeezed lemon juice)
3/4 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup half and half
1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
fresh basil
Cook pasta according to package until done and drain, reserving 1 cup pasta water. In the pasta pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add the lemon juice, whipping cream, and half and half. Stir until hot. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add pasta water if needed to thin out sauce. Add pasta and fresh basil to sauce and combine. Serve with chicken!

This pasta dish was perfection and I will tell you why. It has such a light flavor perfect for this time of year....and it is very filling. And it tastes amazing. And it's so quick and easy! How can you go wrong with those ingredients? You can't. We ate it so fast there was no time for picture taking...

The newest family member!

Our beautiful niece was born on August 6, 2010! We were able to be in Delphos for the weekend of excitement...and of course I have pictures!

Meet Landen Rose McCormick!

I am definitely Landen's favorite aunt. Some people may point out that I am her only aunt. I really think that point is irrelevant. I am still her favorite.

Landen and Uncle Ryan

Check out that cute face...

The happy family!

Ok...one more face shot. She just looks so cute smooshed against my shoulder!

So...no food is as interesting as that little face right now...but I am trying out a new pasta recipe this week! I will have to blog about it later:)
